Mold Remediation
Mold problems may arise from a variety of contributors such as poor building design, structural damage, improper ventilation, moisture intrusion, contaminant sources, and related building activities.

Evergreen AES can provide services to determine the best course of action for mold remediation or mold abatement. There are numerous types of sampling and analysis parameters associated with mold investigative procedures. Initially, most surveys involve sampling for temperature and relative humidity.
TYPES OF MICROBIOLOGICAL SAMPLING AVAILABLE:
- air
- surface
- bulk analysis
Indoor/Outdoor relationships are assessed both by comparing concentrations and species composition of comparably collected samples. In non-problem environments, the concentrations of fungi in indoor air are typically equal to or lower than the concentrations seen outdoors. If fungal concentrations are consistently higher than those outdoors, then indoor sources and potential areas of concern are indicated.
The species most common in outdoor air is Cladosporium, Alternaria, Penicillium, and Aspergillus. They are also some of the most common causes of indoor allergic reactions and diseases.
Exposure to fungi actively growing indoors may present serious health risks even when total fungal concentrations are higher outdoors. Some species can be a concern because they can produce toxins and/or mycotoxins which may cause severe physical distress.
Mold abatement activities often require the correction of water/humidity intrusion, cleaning of non-porous materials, and removal of porous materials including wallboard and carpeting. Evaluation protocols require initial data to aid in determining potential adverse conditions within a residence/facility. Typically mold investigations require several steps in order to properly identify, quantify, and correct associated building problems.
Evergreen AES can provide sampling and analysis to determine the type and species of mold present in an environment. Based upon this information, a comprehensive mold remediation plan can then be prepared for the client to use during the mold abatement activities. Evergreen AES can then ensure the mold remediation is completed thoroughly and without further contamination of living or working areas.
